CNSS Issues: The Software Workforce

The ability of industry and government to fulfill their needs in the areas of software intensive systems is fundamentally limited by the availability of a well-trained and qualified software workforce. Are our colleges and universities producing adequate numbers of qualified professionals? Are the curricula addressing all of the relevant requirements? What is the role of licensing and/or professional certification in ensuring the competency of software professionals who develop critical systems? These and other questions can provide a basis for one or more CNSS studies. Program Director: John Marciniak
